THE SAWS CHALLENGE V! SEPTEMBER 16-18, 2005!

The SAWS Challenge is funded by a few generous sponsors. Each has generously donated money, prizes, or both, to help make the tournament a success. We definitely would not be able to run this event without their support, and we thank them for their help.

Sponsors for the 2005 SAWS Challenge:

Port City Games of Stockton

Our main sponsor for this year's Challenge, Port City Games is a new game store in the Stockton area. Owner Robert Hambrick has been a SAWS member for many years now, and represents the club well wherever he goes. If you get a chance to play a game with Robert, we highly recommend it! And if you are in the Stockton area (or surfing the web), check out his store as well. :)

Gale Force 9 produces all sorts of cool and useful hobby aids for the games we love to play. Custom movement trays, tokens and markers, templates, even terrain is all there on their website. Check them out today and see what they have. These guys have been strong supporters of the whole IndyGT circuit for the past couple of years, and most of these events (including the SAWS Challenge) receive trophies from them. SAWS will have some Gale Force 9 product available at the tournament, and we'll even be giving away some of their goodies in our famous door prize drawings!

Double E Gaming Supply is owned and run by the Echols brothers, members of SAWS and also representative of CATS. Under the name Double E Gaming supply, these guys produce some out of this world terrain and tables! The club has purchased some of their tables for the SAWS Challenge, and they will be graciously loaning us some more as well, so we should have over a half dozen 'Games Day quality' tables in use during the tournament. All tables built by them will have their logo painted on the side, and they take custom orders, so if you like what you see (or have an idea that you were scared to try on your own), let them know. Both Bryan and Shawn Echols will be playing in SAWS Challenge V, and I'm sure they will be happy to field any questions you may have.

Miniature World Maker is a manufacturer of EXCELLENT high-quality gaming terrain, in various scales. Made from a series of rubber compounds, their products are very durable, and they come pre-painted and flocked, so they're ready to use right out of the package! Based in Australia, the company has been selling their products online for years. Their rates are very reasonable, and they offer free shipping (yes, from Australia ;)) if you order just $50AUD or more. Take a look at some of the tables at this year's Challenge and you will see some of their terrain, and if you check out the Flames of War demo on Saturday night, you'll be exposed to a nice selection of their 15mm terrain, as they've generously donated some of it to give away as prizes!

Special thanks also have to go to:

  • Gary Lane of Great Escape Games, for donating some prize support and giving us a more than fair deal on a bunch of the door prizes.

  • Cody Johnson of CAWS, the Hillbilly terrain-maker extraordinaire really helped us out for building us a bunch of terrain for us at rock-bottom prices (which is about what we can afford! ;)).

  • Doug Pharr of SAWS, for running one of our demo games even though he couldn't make the tournament!

  • The boys at Leadership 2, who have given us a lot of support in the past two years, bringing tables, running demos, kicking people's butts and making us look tame in comparison... :)
